Step-by-Step Guide:
Once you’ve logged in as a teacher, you land on your:
Teacher App Home Page
Your Home Page provides point-of-use access to your most relevant teacher materials, on two main tabs:
1.) “Courses” tab, and
2.) “Dashboard” tab.
This clean, modern, and easy-to-use interface eliminates searching for resources with multiple clicks.
1. Let’s first explore the COURSES tab.
Course Tile
You’ll first see your course tile – or tiles - depending on the number of courses you are teaching.
At the bottom of the course tile, you’ll see icons. By hovering your mouse over these icons, you’ll see what materials you can easily and quickly jump to.
These icons link to materials such as
Your “Activities” (or Course Home page) launches your course and gives you access to the course content and teacher resources
Your “Gradebook”
“Reports” - for both your whole class and individual students
The “People” dashboard - which is essentially your class roster on steroids, as it gives you an efficient overview on how each individual student is performing in the course in order for you to make next-step decisions.
And the “Editor” button allows you to immediately jump into the course and start customizing.
Needs Grading
Next to your date header, you’ll find a quick link to open a view to the assignments that Needs Grading.
2. The other tab on your TEACHER APP is your DASHBOARD tab.
The Dashboard tab allows teachers to get a birds-eye-view of how their classes are performing.
Performance Summary
The “Performance Summary” card displays:
Two bar graphs that show the activities that have been graded on each day, and the number of activities that still Need Grading.
By clicking on Teacher Responsiveness will open the Needs Grading tool.
Clicking on Student Performance will open the People tool with information pertaining to student performance including failing or falling behind.
Clicking on Student Pace will additionally open the People tool to provide student pacing performance in addition to other information.
Course and Student Summaries
The Course Summary card provides the number of active courses and which courses have students who need critical attention. Clicking on each of these summaries will provide additional details.
The Student Summary card provides the number of active students and the total number enrolled, as well as the number of critical students who are at risk of failing or are behind schedule. Clicking on each of these summaries will provide additional details.
Active Courses
The Active Courses card:
Lists the courses you are teaching
Lists the number of students in each Active Course
The first column that leverages the color-coded, status icons, visually displays your overall Teacher Responsiveness in grading activities for each of the courses. (Clicking the status indicator will open the Needs Grading tool.) The meaning of the color indicators is as follows:
Green = You’ve graded all submitted assignments within 2 days or less
Yellow = One of more submitted and gradable assignments have gone 3 or more days ungraded
Red = One or more submitted and gradable assignments have gone 6 or more days ungraded
The next column displays Student Performance information.
Green = means that, in aggregate, your students are performing above 10% of the minimum grade for the course
Yellow = means that, in aggregate, your students have failed in (1) of their last (5) submissions, or they are within 10% of failing the course
Red = means that, in aggregate, your students have failed (2) of their last (5) submissions, or they are failing the course
The final column displays Student Pace.
Green = means that, in aggregate, your students are submitting all gradable items on time or that less than 10% are past due
Yellow = means that, in aggregate, your students have 10% or more gradable items past due
Red = means that, in aggregate, your students have 30% or more gradable items past due
Now that you have explored the Teacher App Home Page, and have seen for yourself the easy-to-use, and point-of-use access to your most important materials and information, you’re ready to start exploring the course content and take a dive into your available materials.
